2010 Season
After losing in the NLDS two consecutive seasons (2007, 2008) the Cubbies failed to make the playoffs in 2009 finishing in 2nd place in the NL Central and sitting the 2009 playoffs out. The 2010 season has not brought much better a chance of getting back into the playoffs as the team currently sits in 5th place in the NL Central with a 55-76 record. Injuries have been few on the squad and the only serious ones seem to be on the pitching staff. RHP Carlos Silva recently underwent a cardiac evaluation and is on the DL. RHP Esmailin Caridad is out with a strained right elbow, LHP John Grabow is out for the season with a sprained left knee and RHP Angel Guzman is out for the season from a right shoulder surgery.
Fans are already looking forward to 2011 when the prospects of a new season bring hope to every team in the league.
